The Topps 2006 set inspired me to do something I thought might be funny: take the little cartoons on the back of the card and try to tell a story with them.
These are the results. This is collage art. I did not draw anything but I did manipulate a few things with computer art programs n whatnot. The first four tell some kind of story. Some of these appeared in Bugs And Cranks but not many and I ended up doing actual writing for the site instead. Sorry for the Comic Sans font.

This next one? A certain Shakespearean play. I wonder if I could relate the whole thing this way.

Something I think of when a pitcher starts a game and gets his butt handed to him in the first inning and is pulled. Rarely happens, but when it does, poor guy, his ERA must skyrocket...

(This one is my favorite.)

Most of these are made from the 2006 set. Here's one with a few from the 70's.

To no one's surprise. the beanball cartoon was on Carlos Zambrano's card.

This one was going to be a story. But then I decided against it. I was really depressed when I made it.

Depression was probably another culprit.

Any time we complain about professional sports players' on-field failures, remember: they're likely better than any of us at the game.
